Light & Plant Growth

All plants require light for photosynthesis, a process all plants use to convert light, oxygen, and water into carbohydrates for energy. Plants require this energy throughout their life to grow, bloom and produce seeds. Plants typically absorb a specific portion of the light spectrum called Photosynthetic Active Radiation, or PAR for short. The number is generally represented as PAR Watts, which represents the amount of energy in the PAR portion of the light spectrum, getting to the meter each second. Simply stated, PAR defines the type of light on spectrum of light that promotes photosynthesis. Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density (PPFD) measures the light that arrives at the crop canopy in the Par zone. As a grower, you want as much photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD) to your plants as possible, so choosing the right type of light is important.

CMH Grow Lights

Ceramic Metal Halide grow lights have a high CRI which produces very high-quality full spectrum light for the plants which means they are the closest light source to replicate natural sunlight. This full spectrum light contains Ultraviolet and InfraRed light which are helpful in warding off pathogens like mold and mildew, and even some pests. Studies show that plants grow healthier under CMH grow lights than LED grow lights.

CMH vs. LED

While both lighting system types are used for grow light, CMH tends to have more important benefits to growers and horticulturalist than do LED lights. First, CMH grow lights produce more light intensity compared to LED grow lights. CMH light can penetrate 18 to 24 inches into the canopy when hung three feet above. LED grow lights penetrate 6 inches deep, and must be suspended 6 inches above the canopy.

Experience 15-30% Additional Growth from gGRO™ Grow Lighting

Our BizReps team works with the best growing lighting manufacturer in the world: gGRO™ Horticulture Lighting. With a full lighting spectrum that closely mimics natural sunlight, gGRO™ grow lighting is technologically superior to competitors. Our portfolio of next-generation technologies includes gLED™, gHID®, and gGRO™.

The gGRO™ 630W CHM fixtures are reliable, high-frequency grow lamps that deliver more energy to plants than low-frequency systems with the same input power. They’re intentionally built for those who want both light and efficiency in their plant’s growth cycle. The GRO™ 630W is engineered as a dual spectrum fixture for optimal growth through vegetation and flowering stages. This allows growers to guide their plants through every stage of the entire growth cycle for truly healthy, high-quality yields.

  • 15-30% increase in PPFD over the competition
  • Increased energy-efficiency
  • Improved uniformity in bud and vegetable growth
  • Solar capable

How Does gGRO™ Grow Lighting Work?

The gGRO™ optics are precision-designed to deliver uniform energy for the plant’s canopy at 5×5 spacing. This custom-engineered, reflective surface eliminates hot spots that can damage plants and most importantly delivers maximum energy over a uniform area to each plant. It also outperforms our competitors by increasing the blue and red levels in the spectrum beyond normal low frequency systems making it perfect not only on greenhouses but nurseries too!

The newly improved 50W gGRO™ Optics is designed with an exclusive “Extended Light” technology which extends spectral light past 400nm wavelengths (the ultraviolet region). Additionally, this new design has been engineered specifically for 5×5 ft spacing so you’ll get even more coverage than other grow lights with limited walkway waste.
