Anaerobic Digester Wastewater Treatment - NanoConcentrator™

Protecting Water and Boosting Biogas

Anaerobic digestion is a proven way to turn waste into clean energy. But managing the water in that waste is often a big challenge. The NanoConcentrator™ by Dais Corporation is a mechanical system built to solve this. It removes water more efficiently than traditional tools. By focusing on the solids in your system, it helps you produce more biogas and increase your profits.

Wastewater treatment plants face growing pressure to manage wastewater solids and reduce costs. The anaerobic digestion process offers a smart answer. It uses biological processes to break down complex organic matter without oxygen. This produces biogas, which can be used as renewable energy. Anaerobic digestion systems are now used around the world to handle food waste, sewage sludge, and other organic waste streams.

How It Works: A Smarter Way to Dewater

The NanoConcentrator™ uses a special nonporous membrane called Aqualyte™ to pull water out of waste. Unlike old filters that clog and foul easily, Aqualyte™ is built to resist buildup. The NanoConcentrator™ is not just a filter. It is a full mechanical system that manages water molecules to boost productive solids. The system has two main parts.

PolyCool™ Subsystem:

This part removes water as humidity to help cool the system. It does this without needing a large cooling tower.

NanoClear™ Subsystem:

This stage finishes the job by concentrating waste into high-quality solids. It also produces clean, potable water that can be reused.

The Result:

This process can increase the solids in your digester by up to 400%, leading to a big boost in performance.

What Does It Do?

The NanoConcentrator™ manages water molecules in new ways. It uses Aqualyte™ membranes to remove water from incoming feedstock. Evaporation helps cool the system as waste flows in.

NanoConcentrator System Process

The PolyCool™ stage uses evaporation to reject heat. Its fouling-resistant Aqualyte™ surface prevents deposits. Excess water is evaporated and the concentrate moves to NanoClear™.

NanoClear™ then distills vapor through the membrane. This concentrates the feedstock to high percent solids. The result is a clean, high-quality output ready for reuse or disposal.

Aqualyte™ membranes are selective, which ensures high-quality product water. Their smooth crossflow surface also reduces fouling over time.

NanoConcentrator™ Increases Digester Throughput and Profitability

Digestion requires the right balance of solids and water. Too much water reduces biogas yield and lowers your returns. The NanoConcentrator™ solves this by removing water from both the feedstock and the digestate. This reduces waste volume and boosts biogas generated per cycle.

You can use the NanoConcentrator™ in two key roles within biogas production. First, use it to remove water from feedstock before digestion. This concentrates productive solids and improves feed quality. Second, use it to remove water from digestate after digestion. This reduces sludge volume and minimizes the waste stream.

Digesters are designed to handle a wide range of inputs. The NanoConcentrator™ supports both mesophilic digestion and higher temperature systems. It works with food waste, sewage sludge, and other organic waste sources.

Aqualyte™ Membranes: Better Than Conventional Tech

The Aqualyte™ membrane is fouling resistant. Its nonporous surface and crossflow design work together to scour away deposits. It has been tested at 25% salinity and ultra-high chemical oxygen demand and biological oxygen demand levels.

Minimal pretreatment is needed. We recommend removing solids above 20 microns before use. Minimal maintenance is also required. Periodic doses of citric acid help prevent scaling of surfaces and pipes.

A Versatile System for Changing Markets

The NanoConcentrator™ is a simple mechanical system. It treats a wide range of inputs and delivers clean output every time. It is not locked into one use. Both the PolyCool™ and NanoClear™ systems can serve many roles, giving your operation the flexibility to adapt as market conditions change.

Clean Water and PFAS Removal

One of the most impressive features of the NanoClear™ technology is its ability to remove forever chemicals known as PFAS. In third-party tests, NanoClear™ filtered contaminated water so well that none of the 36 different PFAS varieties were detectable in the final product. The produced water was as clean as the testing equipment could measure.

The Bottom Line: Efficiency and Profit

Upgrading your wastewater treatment facility is not just about being green. It is about making smart business sense. The NanoConcentrator™ is a modular system. You can install what you need now and scale up later. Its small footprint of roughly 10 by 20 feet means it fits on a simple concrete pad.

Because this technology supports sustainable energy and water management, many projects may qualify for funds from the Inflation Reduction Act. To qualify for certain tax credits, construction generally needs to begin before December 31, 2024.

Why Choose the NanoConcentrator™?

Minimal Maintenance: The system only needs simple, periodic cleaning with citric acid to prevent scaling.

Modular Design: Units sit on concrete pads and have a small footprint. They are easy to install and expand.

Proven Tech: The core Aqualyte™ technology has more than 20 years of reliable use in the field.

By managing water in a new way, the NanoConcentrator™ helps you protect vital resources while securing your facility’s financial future.
